🌸 What is the Fire Horse?
2026 marks the rare and powerful Year of the Fire Horse in the Chinese zodiac. Returning only once every 60 years, the Fire Horse is a symbol of incredible stamina, independence, and bold action. When the dynamic, galloping energy of the horse is combined with the passionate and volatile element of fire, it creates an explosive potential for growth and transformation. Here’s to a spectacular year full of bold moves and thriving success!

🌟 The Story Behind the Print
To capture this untameable spirit, we illustrated a beautiful horse galloping freely across a vibrant field. Beneath the horse, you will find the traditional Chinese seal script (篆書) characters for "Fire" (火) and "Horse" (馬). We specifically designed these characters to resemble the twisting branches of trees, symbolising a forest. In the ancient Chinese philosophy of the Five Elements (Wu Xing), Wood is the natural fuel that feeds Fire. By having the Fire Horse gallop above a forest of 'wood', the flames are encouraged to grow and burn even brighter. This beautiful synergy signifies that the energy, passion, and prosperity of this year will thrive spectacularly from beginning to end.

🖨️ The Risograph Process
This artwork was brought to life using Risograph printing, an incredibly charming technique. We separated the design into three distinct colours: yellow, pink, and green, which were then printed layer by layer. Where these colours overlap, beautiful new shades and textures emerge. We proudly printed this edition locally at a wonderful Risograph studio called Riso Pop right here in Amsterdam.

Because of the mechanical nature of the Risograph machine, the alignment of the layers is never absolutely flawless. You might notice slight misregistrations, uneven ink application, or charming textures. These imperfections are exactly what makes Risograph so special. Every single print has its own unique character and an authentic, handmade feel. No two prints are exactly alike, and we love that about them! 🫶
